It is almost time for our 2024 Christmas tree project.
We are planning the project to be pretty much as what we have done the last few years. I pretty much copied and pasted from last year's post.
We are scheduling two days this year - Saturday, December 7 and Saturday December 14. We plan to start at 1:30 and end about 3:30 both days to avoid potential late afternoon cold in case we have cold days.
We understand that we have commitments from Santa and Ms. Claus and perhaps an elf or two to come to the farm both days.
Plan to bring your families, ESPECIALLY CHILDREN, pick out a Christmas tree, cut it and take it home and decorate. This will be fun. The children (adults too) seem to really enjoy the experience.
There will be no charge for the trees but for those that are able to and willing we will collect a contribution (whatever you want to contribute) for 1) St. Jude's Children's Hospital 2) Poplar Bluff Boys and Girls Club 3) Shared Blessings of Farmington 4) Andy's House in Portageville and/or 5) another charity of your choice.
If you know someone with children that you think might enjoy picking out and cutting there own tree or someone that needs a tree, and paying for one would be a problem for them, tell them about our project. If anyone needs transportation or needs a tree delivered call us. We usually have several volunteers to help with transportation or delivery.
If the scheduled times don't work for you, if you will call, we can likely schedule a different time for you.
For those of you that have a place to plant a tree and perhaps have a child that would like to have his or her own small Christmas tree for their room, we will have a few small pine and spruce trees that we planted in Christmas buckets. The tree can then be planted after Christmas. These trees are also free.

Directions:
If you are going north on Business 67 in Poplar Bluff turn right onto W Highway at the last stoplight at the north end of town. Then go north on W about two miles to County Road 525 (The Agee Community Church will be on the left. (If you cross Black River you went to far.). Turn left onto County Road 525 and go down the hill and cross a small creek and then turn right into our farm drive. The farm drive is River's Bend. There is a street sign. Rivers Bend is less than 1/2 mile from W. It is the first right turn after crossing the small creek on 525. The Christmas trees are on the right about 1/4 to 1/2 mile from 525 on River's Bend.

The Green Thumb Garden Club is having their annual Spring Plant Swap this Saturday, May 11, 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The location is Poplar Bluff History Museum, 1010 North Main Street, Poplar Bluff.
They always have a wide selection of plants to choose from and I understand that if you have a plant or plants to exchange you can select plant(s) and there will be no charge. They usually also have some plants they sell at a very reasonable price and they accept donations.
I plan to provide 50 – 100 trees including some of each of the following:
Dogwood
Redbud
Pecan
Weeping Willow
White Pine
Shortleaf Pine
Loblolly Pine
Norway Spruce
Northern Red Oak
Buckeye
Mimosa
Silver Maple
River Birch
Bald Cypress
Tulip Poplar, and perhaps a few others.

The ladies of the Garden Club do all of the planning and almost all of the work. I just bring a few trees.
