06/19/2026: Escatawpa Hollow Park & Campground is temporarily closed, and all public access is suspended until conditions improve.

Heavy rainfall this week has caused the Escatawpa River to rise well above normal and safe levels, resulting in the river overflowing its banks.

A follow up post will be made when the park reopens.

Due to weather, all Mobile County Commission offices and parks will close at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026. Mobile County campgrounds will have some staffing and remain open for campers who are already on site. Parks staff will monitor water levels and alert any campers on site if circumstances change.

Mobile County parks will be open on the Juneteenth holiday.

All Mobile County Commission offices will return to normal operations after the Juneteenth holiday.

06/18/2026: River and beach access at Escatawpa Hollow Park & Campground is temporarily suspended for safety reasons. Heavy rainfall this week caused the Escatawpa River to rise rapidly, creating high water levels and swift, dangerous conditions. Additional rainfall is expected, and river levels may continue rising over the next few days.

Please check this post for updates on river and beach access. The rest of the park remains open at this time.

Due to ongoing rainy weather, this week’s Summer Movie Nights showing of “A Bug's Life” at Escatawpa Hollow Park & Campground has been rescheduled to Friday, Aug. 14, 2026.

The next Summer Movie Nights event is scheduled for Friday, June 5, at Bayfront Park - A Mobile County Park featuring “Finding Nemo.”

River and beach access remains closed at this time. Water levels are continuing to drop, but not back to normal/safe levels at this time.

River and beach access remain closed due to water levels exceeding 20 feet. Some trails are also experiencing flooding and may be inaccessible.

At this time, all other areas of the park remain open. We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed.

Last Friday's screening of "The Incredibles" at Escatawpa Hollow Park & Campground was a delightful kickoff to the Mobile County Parks Summer Movie Nights series.

UPDATE: Due to rain, the free screening of “Shrek” originally scheduled for Friday, May 22, at Chickasabogue Park has been rescheduled for Aug. 7.

The next Summer Movie Night will be May 29 at Escatawpa Hollow and will feature “A Bug’s Life.” Admission is free, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets, snacks and drinks.

Mobile County Parks Summer Movie Nights kick off Friday, May 15, with a FREE showing of “The Incredibles” at Escatawpa Hollow Park & Campground.

Enjoy free, family-friendly movies under the stars each Friday through July 31 at parks across Mobile County. Movies begin at 8 p.m. Bring lawn chairs or blankets, and arrive early for a good spot.

In addition to Escatawpa Hollow Park & Campground, participating parks include:
• Chickasabogue Park
• Bayfront Park
• West Mobile County Park
