Karen, Shea and I would like to send a HUGE shoutout to Patricia Peters and in . As first responders it seems there is always a shining star that emerges from the devastation and debris. From hurricane Florence we got Patricia, the proprietor of The Dames Inn, a historical and magnificent Grand House that sits on the corner of Princess Street and 15th in the mansion district of downtown Wilmington. She opened her doors and provided us with not only a warm place to come home to at the end of a muddy, exhausting day but she and her friends made sure there was a hot, gourmet meal waiting for us every evening. We witnessed Patricia work tirelessly to provide shelter to others in her restored 100 year old rental property that sits across the street, donating a sofa from her parlor to an 90 plus year old woman who lost everything, mattresses from her daybed located in one of The Dames Inn sunrooms. This lady was a marvel to watch and an inspiration at best.
I encourage my friends and family, if you are ever in Wilmington, stop by, say hello and ask for a tour of the Dames Inn. It is a once in a lifetime experience.
If you are a foodie, I cant close this without mentioning Chef of who is the owner of an intimate, melt in your mouth restaurant but who also worked non stop to provide food to those in need during the aftermath of this storm.
Patricia, thank you for all you did and continue to do, you are amazing, made up of pure goodness and the friendship that evolved from Hurricane Florence will last a lifetime….
The Dames Inn, Wilmington, NC we will be back! We know whenever there is a knock on the door, Patricia will always answer it.
