At this time, we are only partially open. I know it’s frustrating to try and reach the local number, as it has not been reconnected, yet. We are concentrating on long-term stays or past guests only, at this time. Once the renovations are completed (yes, it is taking forever 😬) we will decide how to go forward. As most of you (locals) know, the motel suffered a fire on 9/11. The quick response by Jamie Hull and the Wilton & Durant fire departments prevented a total loss of one of the oldest (continually operating) businesses in Wilton. I can’t say enough about how they battled! I had never seen a fire, up close, and am eternally grateful for every one of them. Also, thanks go out to the people who showed up or called to offer assistance in other ways! With that being said, we had the living quarters staged for the then upcoming city-wide garage sale and have put what was saved outside for the taking! The restoration specialist has assured us that they will be fine after laundering. If the items are still there by the weekend, they will go in the dumpster!
The restoration has begun and we will be down for, approximately, 3-4 months, but we will be back up and running, fully, after the first of the year! Again, in honor of national fire prevention week, thank you so much to our local fire departments!! You people are awesome!!!

So very sad to lose, who most would call, “The Matriarch” of Wilton! She supported every single business in this community.....and ours is no exception! When she brought anyone to town, (including her own family members) she always sent them to us! She knew they’d be well taken care of and provided a clean and “nostalgic” (which she told me on several occasions that she liked) place to stay! Rest In Peace, Thelma and straighten them out up there! 😇

Wilton, Iowa, lost its most-famous resident this week with the death of Thelma Nopoulos who, along with her husband George, was longtime operator of the landmark Wilton Candy Kitchen.

To all our customers, please know that we do everything possible to eliminate the spread of germs on a daily basis. The recommendations by the CDC for cleaning procedures due to the Covid-19 virus, are ones that we’ve been practicing for nearly 25 years. It amazes me how few people have an open bar of soap at the sink, so that means the toilet handle, the tv remote, the door k***s, etc., etc. carry germs that I would never allow to be transferred to myself or any future guests! I realize that some people feel the need to stay at hotels that offer modern rooms, with far more amenities than we can offer, but as long as we have this gem, it will always remain a throwback to the good ole’ days of the 50’s & 60’s! Just know that you will never stay at a more disinfected hotel/motel. This, I can guarantee!! Stay safe, open that soap and use it!!

Don’t forget to stop in tomorrow for Wilton’s Fall City-Wide Garage Sale!! Most items are inside the apartment!! Collectors of Norman Rockwell, Hummel, China, Milk Glass, Vintage McDonalds glassware, old ball jars, Calendar Plates from 1951-1985, etc., etc. There are tons of your typical garage sale items, as well! Couch, chairs, night stands, vintage kitchen table and chairs! Boys sports team jerseys, shoes, toys, books, desk, desk chair......and much more!! Door opens at 8:00 am!

Yes, the “For Sale” sign went up on Sunday! Hard to believe I was in my mid-thirties when we started and this year I’ll be.......😬 This place has been very good to our family, but it’s time to hang up the cleaning rag!! Other obligations have prevented me from devoting as much time as I should and I hope to find someone to take over who’ll appreciate it as much as I do. I couldn’t have done it all these years without my life-long friend and partner in crime....Jane Crawford!! A million thanks to you!! ❤️
I’ve always hoped that someone local (or someone who cares about the history of the town & places like this) would be interested enough to do something really cool with it! Whether they keep it a motel or do something completely different. Places like this are truly few and far between! The 50’s-60’s vibe, the neon....it’s what makes it what it is!! I WILL NOT answer to curiosity seekers and am in no real hurry, but will be happy to talk to anyone who is seriously interested. We are still renting rooms, as always, you just have to leave a message or give me a call to arrange check-in, as we don’t run office hours!
Thanks to all our many, many customers who appreciate what they’ve gotten here....... A look back at the past, a great price, and a clean place to land!!

Pre-Sale, garage sale on Saturday, May 4th during Wilton’s City-Wide Garage Sale!! It’s time to start cleaning out and thinking about hanging up the cleaning rag! 😉. This is a 4 family sale including children-adult clothing, household items, vintage/collectible items, toys, some smaller furniture, bicycles, sporting goods to include baseball clothing & equipment, bedding, and other miscellaneous!! Stop by Saturday from 8-2 and check it out!

To all our past guests who came to town and enjoyed meeting George Nopoulos down at the Wilton Candy Kitchen .....it is with much regret and sadness that I inform you all of George's passing! I'm quite sure there's one heck of an ice cream social going on in heaven today!!
