Tranquil Vista is a four-bedroom, fully-equipped vacation rental home that sleeps 6, and sits on 10 acres of the Texas Hill Country, making it the ideal escape from the stresses of today’s busy lives. It features a 270-degree, 20-mile view of the Blanco river valley. The swimming pool features a tanning shelf and a bench that runs the entire east side of the pool, making it a perfect place for wat

ching the sunset. And the house is 100% football-ready, featuring two stacked 50” HDTV’s powered by DirecTV and WiFi. Tranquil Vista sleeps 6 and features a master bedroom with a king-sized bed and an en-suite bathroom featuring a whirlpool tub and separate shower. The three remaining rooms share a second bathroom and feature a queen-sized bed, a double bed, and two twins beds. A fully equipped kitchen and a gas grill make food prep easy. WiFi internet makes it easy to catch up on that last work e-mail (if you really can’t leave it behind), check the weather and sunset time, and, of course, fantasy football standings. There’s even a Playstation 3 on which the kids can play games or watch DVDs (also check the selection of movies saved on the DVR). All that said, our recommendation is to turn off the electronics and enjoy the quiet solitude you’ll achieve peering out at the star-filled sky. The house is an easy, < 30-minute drive from Wimberley, Blanco, or Dripping Springs and only about an hour from downtown Austin. In a world where everything is coming a little too fast, a short stay at Tranquil Vista will help push the reset button and re-energize you for what lies ahead. Amenities:

A recent guest felt their elephant friend should stay longer to absorb all the happiness that comes from our sunsets. Doing some deep cleaning under the couch, we encountered it and it told us it was ready to go home to its human. UPDATE: We closed all the valves leading to the pool equipment, including the pump with the broken lid, on Saturday and had the pool refilled by Sunday late morning. And with the heavy rain that pushed through in the last 48 hours, the pool is now a little overfilled.

The replacement pool pump lid arrived Monday night. Today, we went to the house, installed it, checked everything, and are back to normal in all systems.

This episode happened when the pump lid, a $35 part, failed sometime between Thursday evening and Saturday morning. We've never had that happen before, and my pool guy said he's never seen it (except where someone struck it or cracked it while removing it or reinstalling it). Regardless, I'm glad the team caught it quickly, but disappointed that it impacted guests who had reserved the house expecting to enjoy the pool (they ended up getting accommodated at a different property). We're having our pool tech out tomorrow to thoroughly double-check all the pool systems before our next guests arrive on Friday.

Super disappointing day. We had guests arriving today and I got a call this afternoon that the team opening the house discovered that one of the pool pump lids broke and half the water in the pool had leaked out. I was at the house on Thursday doing maintenance and checked all the pool equipment and it was running like a champ. Regardless, we ran out to the house and confirmed the broken pump lid.

Unfortunately, no replacement parts were available locally so I ordered replacements from two different suppliers who promised Monday delivery. I blocked time Tuesday to install the replacement pump lid and get everything restarted. I also scheduled the pool tech to come out Wednesday and confirm everything is working as designed and make sure the water is properly treated.

I'll update this page on Tuesday to let everyone know status -- I know we have new guests arriving next weekend and they will want to know the pool is its usual refreshing oasis.

As for the guests whose stay this weekend was impacted, they did move to a different property. I was very disappointed that we weren't ready for their arrival, but I hope they find their new accomodations to be restful and that they will reach out directly to me ([email protected]) so we can provide them a meaningful discount on a future stay (when we can assure them the pool and the rest of the house is ready to host them).
