I finished this watercolor for an entry of a show. The entry deadline was last Friday. Im not sure if it will make the cut but it is entered. I didn't want to create a political piece but I wanted to pay tribute to two Anthems we used to sing growing up. America the Beautiful and God Bless America. If you know the original history of these songs you will understand why I painted this piece. God Bless America was writtem by a Russian Immigrant Irving Berlin in 1918. The anthem America the beautiful was written by a woman Katharine Lee Bates in 1895 on top of Pikes Peak. After a long train ride from east coast to Colorado Springs and climbing to the top of Pikes Peak she was enspired by the vastness of our country and the opportunities it offered everyone.
