🍂 Imagine arriving at Possum Trot on a crisp October evening…The fire is waiting. Soup and fresh bread are being served. The mountains are settling into evening....This is Friday night at the Appalachian Roots Gathering. ❤️🌿❤️

We’ll begin with an Appalachian plant walk with clinical herbalist Brittany, exploring native plants and the traditional ways they’ve been used.

As evening settles in, Olivia will lead us through Mountain Echoes, a restorative sound journey designed to calm the nervous system and help us settle into the weekend. And then… 🔥

We gather around the fire for Hearth & Holler where Olivia will share stories from her time living off-grid, lessons learned from the land, and acoustic music played on different instruments beneath the Appalachian night sky. ❤️‍🔥

No rushing. No packed schedule.
Just good food, mountains, music, stories, firelight and connection.

A little ride through Possum Trot 🤠🌵

A big thank you to The Appalachian Channel with John Ward for coming back out to Possum Trot, bringing some visitors along, and capturing another adventure in town! I especially loved this drive-through they filmed. ❤️

This was only one small part of their day! Mountain Man Eddie had a pretty big adventure. He received a gun, experienced a few “first tastes,” and then made his way to Possum Trot to put that new gun to use at the shooting range. 🎯

I’ve shared my favorite drive-through clip here, but you can watch Mountain Man Eddie’s full day adventure over on The Appalachian Channel: https://youtu.be/xnrvyMHrRTE

Thank you again, John, for continuing to visit, share the stories, and capture little pieces of Possum Trot on film. 🤎

Just look at all those beautiful, smiling faces! ❤️ I think those smiles say everything about the kind of weekend these girls had at Possum Trot. 🤠🌲

But there’s an even sweeter story behind their visit...🔥 28 campfires. Countless memories. One beautiful Girl Scout tradition. 🔥

This weekend, I had the pleasure of hosting Girl Scouts of Kentucky’s Wilderness Road group for an overnight stay, and they shared a tradition that I absolutely loved.

After each camping trip, they collect a scoop of ashes from their campfire. Those ashes represent the fun, friendships, stories and memories made together, and they travel with them to their next adventure.

This weekend, they poured ashes from 27 previous campfires into the fire at Possum Trot. ❤️🔥

Then, before heading home, they collected ashes from campfire #28 to carry with them to their next camping trip.

I absolutely LOVE this. 🥹 To think that a little piece of a campfire from my town will now travel with them, mixed with years of adventures and memories, is pretty darn special.

Thank you, Girl Scouts of Kentucky’s Wilderness Road, for choosing Possum Trot for one of your adventures. And I especially love hearing that you had such a great time that you're already talking about making it an annual tradition! 💚

Happy trails until campfire #29! 🤠🔥🌲
