Saturday mood at the WCL. 😂🐾

Meet Halo — 12 years old, retired from the daily grind, and apparently entering her fashion era.

She may have a few gray hairs and prefer the comfortable life these days, but put a rooster in front of her and some things never change. 😂

At 12 years old, Halo has earned the right to spend her Saturdays however she damn well pleases.

Pink hat. Pheasant. No apologies.

Give the old girl some love. ❤️🐾

🎙️ Guide’s Call Friday @ WCL
Did you know a hen pheasant will occasionally lay an egg in another bird’s nest—including a prairie chicken’s?
It’s called nest parasitism, and researchers have documented it in both greater and lesser prairie-chicken nests.
The pheasant egg may hatch before the prairie-chicken eggs. That early hatch can cause the prairie-chicken hen to leave the nest before her own eggs hatch—potentially costing her the entire clutch.
It's rare, but it’s a real pheasant behavior that very few hunters know about.
Did you know that one? That’s today’s Guide’s Call from Wiley C**k Lodge.
📸 See a documented example:
This sharp-tailed grouse nest contained 18 eggs—including four pheasant eggs. The larger, unspotted eggs in the photograph are the pheasant eggs:

When the guides become the hunters, you know it’s serious fun!

John, Mugz, and Mike took a rare break from guiding to hunt their own birds — and let’s be honest, the dogs did most of the work (and the posing!). With a lineup like this, it’s clear the team knows how to have a good time while keeping it all in the field. Here’s to more days of great shots, loyal pups, and unforgettable memories out on the open land. 🐾🦆

Line ’em up and let the dogs do the talking.

Early morning light, sharp-eyed hunters, and steady bird dogs—this is where hunting heritage runs deep. Fields stretch wide, boots crunch on frost-hardened earth, and every step builds the anticipation. This is more than a hunt. It’s a tradition forged in the wild, where every moment matters and every cast counts. No fluff, just pure outdoor grit and the relentless call of the wild.
