Guys, pay attention because I’m about to show you how you and a bud can get your wives actually wanting you to spend more weekends golfing or fishing. How? Easy!
First, just reserve rooms at The Your Hidden Garden Bed and Breakfast. Then tell your wives, you’re taking them for a fun and romantic weekend at a little country bed and breakfast, where she can enjoy a weekend of shopping the small town of Winnsboro’s quaint little shops and boutiques, stroll the famer’s market, maybe lunch at one of the local cafés, and then a relaxing trip to the day spa after that. There is plenty of it, so throw in a little more shopping at the end, just for the heck of it, and finish up with dinner and the rest of the evening in their own private whirlpool bath, sipping their favorite drink, stargazing and working on the moon tan in their suites' garden patio.
That should be an easy sell for you guys and before you say “you lost me at day spa”, let me finish. I’m not saying YOU need to do any of that, except the dinner and whirlpool bath part of course. You just set all that up for the wives, (don’t worry, we’ll help with that) and they will one, love you for doing it, and two, for letting them do all that WITHOUT YOU! Then, you and your buddy hit one of the many cheap and uncrowded local golf courses for the day, and there are several nice ones within a half hour to choose from. Country courses, with country prices and country crowds!! If you prefer world-class fishing instead, hire a guide and spend the day catching lunker bass on Lake Fork. And then, to cap it off, you have a wonderful meal and evening after together. Yea, she’ll want you to golf or fish more often, for sure.

Don’t you hate it when it rains on your vacation? Well, not always! If you’ve ever enjoyed an easy and peaceful rain shower from under a porch, then you’ll know what I mean. Rain is one of those gifts from Mother Nature that, when we take the time to sit and enjoy, can become one of those special “holding hands with God” moments we all need from time to time. Which is why when we designed our back to nature B&B, we made sure both guest suites had their own little covered porches, where our guests could have just those sort of amazing moments. So … let it rain!

Easily the most liked feature of our B&B are the indoor/outdoor walk thru showers that allow you to go right from your private garden whirlpool bath tub, into the fresh warm shower. The two sliding glass doors in the suite bring the forest and garden right into your room!!

I’m one who believes Mother Nature speaks to us and guides us along with a wonderful and wordless language, you just have to pay attention and listen. Like this weekend, November 7th and 8th, she’ll be giving us perfect fall afternoons, which is her way of telling you to get out of the crowded big city and enjoy it in East Texas. And if you listen to her, and I suggest you do, because to do otherwise usually ends up bad, I have a great place you can do it! Just drive a couple hours east of wherever you are in the Dallas area, and spend the afternoon at the annual Winnsboro Art and Wine Festival. The Winnsboro Center For The Arts, host this event every fall and they gather an eclectic mix of artisans and artist alike for a couple afternoons of strollable artist displays, regional wine tastings, and live music. The Winnsboro Center For The Arts facility is the centerpiece of the downtown Bowery area, and is the perfect setting the intimate and fun festival ambiance. So, if Mother Nature is gonna bring out the great weather, you should probably listen and drive out to East Texas and enjoy it. Tell anyone who asks, your Mama sent you!

Hey, DFW. Want to get away ... but not on a plane? Hop in the car and drive two hours east and spend a relaxing day or two enjoying the peace and quiet of our east Texas forest B&B. Nothing more soothing than a fall evening, soaking in your private patio hot tub with your favorite drink and the one you love. Everyone needs to get away sometimes. Don't you!!

Check out the new decks! Our place is built on a hillside, so we had to build different decks, at different elevations down the hill. The idea is to get seating areas closer to the forest area, and still allow you to enjoy from a safe and comfortable seat. Birders can just sit and enjoy the show ... from colorful cardinals, blue jays and buntings, to hawks and owls and everything else in between. Yes, I've seen 5 different species of woodpeckers, including the Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker! A deer, coyote or even a bobcat, might even wander by. All this is part of the guest only area for the B&B and connects to the guest room's garden entries and the cafe kitchenette. We really love our place, and so will you!!!

Come check out our tiny little town and the annual Winnsboro Art and Wine Festival November 10th and 11. The Winnsboro Center For The Arts hosts the event, and it features many of the local wineries we have in the area, as well as regional artists. They hold it in the downtown Bowery district, where the WCA is located and hosts similar events year around. From touring art exhibits, to cowboy poetry and music concerts, they are the cultural hub to our community and we hope many will come and support their festival that weekend. Yes, that's a walk thru shower that goes out to the whirlpool bath! Here is the Butterfly Suite. It has king size sleigh bed, electric fireplace, TV, covered porch and of course your own private patio garden with tub and day bed. And yes, there are lots of hummingbirds!!

It looks like we finally made it! It has been a two and a half year process since we purchased the property, cleared the building site and brought in utilities, and finally designed and built our home and the Your Hidden Garden Bed and Breakfast. It was quite a journey, dealing with contractors and suppliers in a new area, pandemic related supply issues and huge inflation that killed the budget, and just the fact that we're getting old and all the work has taken a toll on these old bodies! But we made it, built most of it ourselves and have the nice quiet little place in the woods to live and work we … a little.

The new web site is up, so be sure to check it out and pass it along to any who might want to get out of the city for some quiet time.
