Upon cleaning the east side bathroom today, I discovered something I had previously overlooked. The towel bar holders, if they land on the grout in the tile, were split in half to match. My father-in-law was all about detail; he installed all the tile in 1955. He also kept extra tiles in the tunnel, which we were able to use to repair tiles and add a row of tile at the ceiling. The color pink and baby blue tiled bathrooms were a staple in homes from the late 1940s to the early 1960s. The soft colors were popularized by First Lady Mamie Eisenhower, who loved the soft shade pink so much that pink tiles were called Mamie pink. The house always has a surprise for me around ever corner.❤️

Well it has arrived! The New refrigerator! Best part no handles and it is no fingerprints. A big Thank you to all of the guest who were all so patient the last two weeks. So pretty!

Well, it has been a while since I did this. So, here's a little history on the greenhouse room. It is the newest construction on the old part of the house. Originally, it had a sliding door on the end where I took the picture from. The floor was a concrete slab. In 1992, Erik's dad, Leo, built the greenhouse he had wanted for years. The floor he used is made of some of the original sandstone sidewalks of downtown Winona Third street. He stored the slabs of sidewalks at Brom Foundry, one house over on the east side of the house. The ceiling was all glass, and he had hanging shelves in all the long windows. He also had a worktable set up for potting and seed trays. In the remodel, we put in a ceiling, cut a door into the then garage, now dining room, added ceiling lighting, and put in a door and sidelight. Now, it's a great place to watch the birds come to the feeders in back and the bird bath.

The bloom was exceptionally beautiful, prompting me to share it. I relocated the pot from beneath the pergola to its winter quarters within the Haven's long hallway between the old and the new.
