It's back! Earlier than ever!

The Winter Park Ski Train is back this month! This time, starting earlier and running more days to accommodate demand.

This ski season, the Amtrak Winter Park Express will kick off its seasonal service on December 20 and run from Denver’s Union Station to both the Winter Park Resort and nearby Fraser, Colorado. The train will offer 69 round trips, which is 29 more than last season.

The Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad started the Ski Train in 1940. There was one trip in each direction per day. In the 1960s, 22-car trains to Winter Park were regularly moving an estimated 1,800 passengers, many of them young, unsupervised, and sometimes rowdy.
