The remnants of Hurricane Kay will likely move along the west side of the Baja Peninsula through Friday with the greatest impacts expected across southern California and southwest Arizona.
The heaviest rain potential is Friday afternoon through Saturday evening with expected wind gusts of 25-40 mph, increased clouds and cooler temperatures.

With additional monsoon activity forecasted through the weekend, the City of Yuma will be offering sand and bags to residents. Yuma's self-serve sandbag filling station will be at the east parking lot of the Yuma Civic Center, 1440 W. Desert Hills Drive.
The sandbag filling station will be available beginning at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, until 8 p.m. each day through Saturday, Sept. 10. The sandbag station will be stocked with sand and empty bags for self-filling while supplies last. A limited number of bags and sand may be available onsite after 8 p.m. While shovels may be available as well, the city recommends residents bring their own when visiting the station. Residents are allowed five sandbags per vehicle. In the event of power outages, a cooling center will be available at the Yuma Civic Center.
