If you love Aruba, like I do, you might want to give back to the people of Aruba who allow us to enjoy their paradise. Most visitors to Aruba stay pretty much to the area from the California Lighthouse in Noord down to Oranjestdt, but there is much more to Aruba that some would rather us not see. Years ago I learned of the three orphanages on Aruba and I got involved with helping Casa Cuna, which
cares for the youngest children. Two years ago I sent out about 70 letters to some of the biggest retailers in the US soliciting, books, clothing, bedding, toys, games, computers, musical instruments and money. I got Mazda to upgrade the children's bathroom and shower area. I eventually want to build a new orphanage on the ground of Casa Cuna to combine the three and benefit from economies of scale and the current separation of siblings of different ages. The other area of concern are the dogs. Being an animal lover, it breaks my heart that there is a kill shelter and how badly the dogs are treated on the island. The last area of my concern is the Chulers, which are the homeless people on Aruba. As a timeshare owner I know how much food at the end of my visit would go to waste if I didn't give it to friends or to one of the orphanages. I want to create a system so that every Fri, Sat, Sun all excess food from the hotels and timeshares are given to the homeless and the orphanages. I would like to create something akin to the Salvation Army here in the states to feed the homeless.
