The 54th Annual Methow Valley Rodeo returns to Winthrop this Labor Day Weekend, continuing a tradition that began in 1971 when local outfitter Claude Miller, who ran Sun Mountain Lodge’s horse program for more than 20 years, and six local horsemen built the first arena on the Sunny M Ranch.

This year, spend the weekend celebrating the valley’s Western roots, then mosey back to The Lodge for:

At Sun Mountain Lodge, four-legged guests are welcome to experience the Methow Valley right alongside you. Every pup arrives to their own welcome kit, complete with a sleeping mat, pet towel, furniture cover, water bowl, treats, and potty bags.

A little haze doesn't have to slow down your Methow Valley getaway.

While wildfire smoke has affected air quality on some days, Sun Mountain Lodge sit’s 1500 feet above Winthrop and remains open and welcoming, with plenty of ways to enjoy the summer. Take a swim in the pool, spend a quiet afternoon on Patterson Lake, or head out for a day of fly fishing. When you’re ready to slow down, settle in for a meal, a spa treatment, or simply take in the views from the lodge.
