Jack and Monica Pizura welcome you to join them on a working orange ranch and to step back in time as you enter their gracious turn-of-the-century iconic home now celebrating its 17th year anniversary. .Designed in 1901 by an architect for Monica's ancestor, Illinois State Senator Fred E. Harding, the incomparable two-story Craftsman/Victorian-style home shows exterior elements of a British Colon

ial style found in India and Africa. A must-stay for lovers of history, antiques, architecture, original art, oriental rugs and a perfect idealic retreat to explore the majestic Sequoia park and other local attractions. Choose the peaceful country-feel of the Juliana Suite with private shower/bath and stunning views of trees, mountains and sunsets; the more formal Lucy Harding Room with its unique cedar panels, vintage queen-size bed, private shower/bath with sounds of the Pond Fountain or the brightly-decorated Garden Cottage with stacked beds (the top a twin, the bottom a full-size feather bed), intimate enclosed garden shower and private patio entrance. Wicky-Up is a member of the Slow Food movement, growing its own fresh herbs and tomatoes and buying fresh, organic and locally whenever possible. A candlelight breakfast of culinary delights, served on Villeroy and Boch china, features fresh-squeezed Heirloom Washington navel orange juice from the ranch and blended organic rain forest coffee in a dining room appointed with 19th century antiques. Classical music quietly plays in the background. On the menu, some favorites are baked French Toast Naranjo, Fiesta Soufflé, Omelets with Roasted Rosemary Potatoes (Sundays only), Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, Lavender/Honey Glazed Grapefruit and Poached Pears in a Cranberry-Lemon reduction. Greetings from one of the most beautiful places on earth. Our Indian Summer has finally turned into a mild winter. The early mornings are perfect for a walk with Sweet Pea up to the promontory. Looking out onto our magnificent valley with a lake, agriculture and two distant buttes is worth the 20 minute roundtrip walk. We hope to see you enjoying our fireplace, relaxing, taking nature walks in the foothills.

A lovely place for a peaceful getaway. Even if you live just 5 miles down the road.

This spring has been glorious! if you haven't been here to Wicky Up Ranch this spring, we hope to have you with us next year. The Lupine, Poppies, Red Bud, Mustard, Popcorn Flowers, Fiddleneck and all the Peach, Nectarine, Plums in bloom. It's too wonderful for words. The Pink Jasmine on the driveway is in bloom now, and the blossoms on the orange trees are just opening. The scent is heavenly. We'd love to share this with all of you.

Our gorgeous October and November Indian summers have come and gone, and as I write we are expecting a freeze. The wind machines haven't come on yet, but they will. Our fingers are crossed for the 8 acres of newly planted lemons that are especially susceptible to frost. We look forward to 2015, hoping to see many of our original guests as returning guests. Remember to ask for your discount. Yay!!!

It's been a busy summer with more people ever visiting Sequoia National Park and staying at Wicky Up Ranch on their way. Actually, Wicky Up is a great place to come and relax. With the wrap around veranda where you can listen to the fountain, the birds and feel the breezes while you sip a cold drink and read a good book is one of the all-time favorites of our bed & breakfast. There is also the Sunset Deck, the front patio, the hammock under the grand Oak tree. For lovers of vintage films, our library is quite impressive. We hope to meet all of you soon.
