Southern Living magazine named Woodville among eight small Southern towns for a November getaway—the only Mississippi town included. The article highlights our Southern history and architecture, along with nearby Clark Creek Natural Area, where waterfalls and wooded trails draw hikers, birdwatchers and photographers.

We’re proud to see our hometown recognized, and we’d love to introduce you to even more reasons to stay awhile.

Spend a morning exploring Woodville’s historic square, where the Wilkinson County Museum and African American Museum tell the stories of the people who shaped this community. Browse antiques, local art and handmade treasures at Main Street Market, leaving time for the discoveries that make a small-town visit memorable.

Plan a fishing trip on Lake Mary, enjoy an outing to Wilkinson County Park, or take time to explore the surrounding countryside. Wilkinson County’s hunting traditions give sportsmen another reason to return throughout the season. Whether your idea of a getaway is an active day outdoors or an unhurried afternoon in town, there’s room to enjoy Woodville at your own pace.

Enjoy the Natchez Balloon Festival October 16–17 and the Angola Prison Rodeo Sunday, October 18, with The Joshua on 61 in Woodville, Mississippi, conveniently located between the two.

In Natchez, colorful hot-air balloons take to the skies over the Mississippi River landscape when weather permits—a tradition that began in 1986. At Angola, Sunday brings rodeo competition and a hobbycraft fair featuring work made by incarcerated craftspeople; gates open at 8 a.m., with the rodeo beginning at 2 p.m.

Between outings, return to the quieter pace of small-town Woodville.

An RV can be a home, an office and a familiar place to unwind. Go RVing’s 2025 study found that 54% of RVers who work remotely had worked from an RV. A workday at the kitchen table, dinner in your own kitchen and an evening watching television can all be part of everyday RV life.

Choosing where to settle means thinking beyond the campsite: reliable hookups, internet access, laundry, neighbors and the community around you. Those everyday details help turn a parking space into a place to live.

In Woodville, Mississippi, that life can include a slower pace, familiar faces and time to enjoy the surrounding countryside. Whether you’re returning home, moving closer to family or choosing a new community, you can keep the comfort and independence of your own RV.

The Joshua on 61 welcomes long-term RV residents looking for an ongoing place to call home. Our quiet, established community on US Highway 61 offers monthly sites with 30/50-amp electricity, water, sewer and Wi-Fi included. Coin-operated laundry is available on the property, and you have someone to contact when you need assistance.

In 1986, a lunch conversation among James Biglane, Cappy Stahlman and Ron Riches sparked an idea: bring a balloon race to Natchez. The Historic Natchez Foundation took it on, and with about six weeks to prepare, the first race was held at the Natchez Mall.

Forty years later, the 41st Natchez Balloon Festival returns October 16–17, 2026, to the grounds of Rosalie Mansion overlooking the Mississippi River.

One highlight doesn’t require the balloons to leave the ground. During a balloon glow, pilots fire their burners to illuminate the colorful balloons from within, turning them into giant lanterns. Friday’s glow is scheduled for 6:45 p.m., with fireworks following at 7:45 p.m. Balloon activities are weather-dependent.
