Our Story

My husband, Bill and I quit our jobs in Maine in 1997 (we were 52 yrs. old). We took a leap of faith and moved to St. John where we already owned ½ an acre of land on the quietest corner of the island…the Southeast end. We lived and worked at Maho Bay Camps for the first three years, so we know what we loved about the island tenting experience and what we wished would make it better. We bought a cement mixer and went to work.

Friends on island (and in Maine) had built small rental spaces for seasonal guests and loved the sharing of such special places. We got the bug and built this tent cottage. We had one season and then Hurricanes Irma and Maria and one included tornado tore through our house and cottage. It was a blow! But we built them, so we knew just how to restore them.

We now live on island during the winter spring season.
