The island has been bone dry, without rain for months, to the point that I can feel the pain of the plants. We don’t usually wish for storms as peak hurricane season (mid-Sept) approaches, but we are so desperate for rain, we’ll take some foul weather with it! No matter the dry conditions, the red hibiscus and red ginger continue to give flower blessings.

Tim, Marcellus, Leo, and Alex are helping our contractor to load and install the new wood trim that will secure the functional and attractive new windows, on every building. This will better secure us for hurricanes, and also will allow for more natural air flow, for those who dislike AC.

The descendants of my mother‘s beloved lilies,
are still gifting us with frequent, beautiful (even in dry season), large flowers, that add a bewitching perfume to the air. You can find them outside of the Plantation Cottage (my parents’ first home) and along the walkway down to Sarah‘s (their second home). It’s a magical scene to experience, especially in the evening. It transports me to my youth.

It’s always an honor to be on this list, but especially satisfying to top the list of the world’s best beaches‼️😎🎉 It is good to personally know how gorgeous it really is! 🏝️☀️

Carnival was fantastic this year‼️🎉 Savanna represented Lindholm as a stilt-walking Moko Jumbie, and the energy and music in Carnival Village, and the fireworks over the harbor were the best‼️🧨🎆

(Note - I accidentally deleted my earlier Carnival post, and lost your 45 great Likes, and earlier comments. Sorry! 😜 But Savanna’s terrific performance as a Moko Jumbie warranted this re-post, and now we have Nicole in the picture, as well. She was critical Moko Jumbie support crew for the whole troupe and parade.)

Massive bunches of bananas from our banana trees generate big smiles from Leo! And they taste fantastic. We should have enough bananas being grown on site this year to share regularly with guests. 😃 A bunch of bananas is called a “hand.” Leo is a very “handy” guy to have around!

One of our guests, Christina, took this awesome bananaquit bird photo the other day, while she was enjoying breakfast on our patio. Christina had not realized that she’d captured the yellow bird in flight, and was happily surprised when sorting her pictures. We all enjoy the colorful and energetic bananaquits and hummers zipping around in the morning. Adelina does a great job of mixing the right (a lot of sugar!) combination of sugar and water, and regularly cleans the feeder.
