As so many of us who love St John do, I particularly love the sensation of peering down into a completely different world as I snorkel above observing the sea world of fish, corals, anemones, sponges and other marine life. I sometimes--often--get carried away as I love it so much and suddenly get the sensation that I am not only worlds away but pretty darn far from shore. Much to my chagrin, when I lift my head and gaze back to the beach, yup--it's just a light little ribbon of sand in the distant horizon! Thankfully, I never panic but rather leisurely float back, again periodically watching this magical underwater oasis unfold before my eyes as I quietly and gently make my way back to the land of humans and airy noise.

If you're a hiker, hike this trail for an outstanding view! Then hike back down to swim and snorkel at one of my all-time favorite beaches on St John (Cinnamon--except when it's windy and wavy, otherwise it's the absolute perfect beach!) If you stay late enough, you can have a very good, reasonably-priced dinner at their restaurant. And if it's on a Wednesday, (every other week so check their schedule) you can take a Park Ranger led hike along the beach and learn about all the constellations!
