The fireflies are the reason we stay on the water after sunset. ✨

The evening begins while there is still plenty of light — traveling through the countryside, watching the sun get lower and waiting for darkness.

Then, along some parts of the riverbank, tiny lights begin to appear.

Fireflies are not something we can switch on for visitors. They are wild, and every evening can be different.

These are the real fireflies we saw in Ben Tre that night, filmed by us with a phone/camera from the boat.

Sometimes reality is harder to film than it is to see with your own eyes — and that's okay.

You don’t have to go very far from Coco Happy Farm to see another side of Ben Tre. 🌴

The small roads around us pass through coconut gardens, homes and working farms. Sometimes you’ll see something as ordinary here as someone climbing high into a coconut tree to work.

For our family, these are familiar scenes. For travelers staying with us, they’re often part of discovering what everyday rural Ben Tre actually looks like.

Life in Ben Tre has always been closely connected to coconuts and water. 🌴

In this little journey, we start beside a canal, travel by boat between the coconut palms, and stop to see some of the everyday work behind the coconuts grown throughout this part of the Mekong Delta.

For us, this is what makes exploring the countryside interesting — not only seeing the landscape, but also understanding a little of the life happening inside it.

These narrow canals run through the coconut countryside, away from the bigger waterways of the Mekong Delta.
