What happens when it rains at Coco Happy Farm? 🌧️🌴

Mostly, the countryside just changes for a while.

The first scenes are right here in our garden as the rain comes down over the coconut trees and tropical plants. Later, we are at Phước Long Cổ Tự, a local pagoda that sits along one of the village routes we cycle with guests.

Of course, rain can change outdoor plans. We don’t want to pretend otherwise. But it’s also a very normal part of life in this green part of Ben Tre.

So this time we simply filmed it.

Not the sunny version of Coco Happy Farm — just Coco Happy Farm on a rainy day.

The smaller the canal gets, the smaller the boat needs to be. 🌴🛶
For this part of the journey, we leave the bigger waterways behind and continue by small sampan through a narrow canal surrounded by nipa palms.
From down at water level, everything feels very close — the palms, the muddy water and the people paddling just a few metres away.
Then it's back onto land and into the village again.
Just another way of seeing the countryside around Ben Tre.

Sometimes the most interesting stop on a bicycle ride isn’t a tourist attraction at all.

We ride from Coco Happy Farm along the small roads between coconut gardens and eventually reach Mỹ Lồng market.

It’s a working local market, so what guests see depends on the day: vegetables, fruit and ingredients being bought and sold for everyday cooking. For the children in this group, simply stopping and looking closely became part of discovering Ben Tre.

Then we get back on the bicycles and continue through the village. 🚲🌴

This is one reason we enjoy showing guests our neighborhood slowly rather than rushing from attraction to attraction.

The evening starts with the last light of sunset. Then Ben Tre slowly gets dark. 🌅✨

Along the canal, homes begin to light up and colorful lanterns appear in the night. A little later, we stop beside the trees for something much smaller: wild fireflies blinking in the darkness.

They aren’t added effects or stock footage. These are the real fireflies we were able to film that night.

They can actually be difficult to capture on a phone — and every night in nature is different — but that’s exactly why we prefer showing them as they really are.

The fireflies are the reason we stay on the water after sunset. ✨

The evening begins while there is still plenty of light — traveling through the countryside, watching the sun get lower and waiting for darkness.

Then, along some parts of the riverbank, tiny lights begin to appear.

Fireflies are not something we can switch on for visitors. They are wild, and every evening can be different.

These are the real fireflies we saw in Ben Tre that night, filmed by us with a phone/camera from the boat.

Sometimes reality is harder to film than it is to see with your own eyes — and that's okay.

You don’t have to go very far from Coco Happy Farm to see another side of Ben Tre. 🌴

The small roads around us pass through coconut gardens, homes and working farms. Sometimes you’ll see something as ordinary here as someone climbing high into a coconut tree to work.

For our family, these are familiar scenes. For travelers staying with us, they’re often part of discovering what everyday rural Ben Tre actually looks like.

Just a day around our neighborhood in the Mekong Delta.
