rfect whether you have kids or not. We were a 50 year old, 30 year old, 7 and 8 year old and all enjoyed the Hung experience. This is just not enough. For the real experience I recommend staying 3 nights which gives 2 days of touring. The difference is that you will get a locals view of life in the Mekong and you will visit Hung's friends not the tourist factories. The food is faaantastic! The family has a milieu of recipes that evolve over the days. Day 1 food was brilliant but we were so happy to get to eat day 2, 3 and 4 food which was equal if not better! The price for staying overnight including dinner and breakfast is $12/person/night. You will also get more then enough opportunities to 'try' the local rice wine. You will stay in cabins each with their own balcony and bathroom facilities. There are fans and mosquito nets and beautiful views of the sunset. The homestay is located at Hung's rice plantation and is a short walk and boat taxi to a small villiage that you can explore by foot or bike that you can borrow from Hung. Hung offers 2 days worth of boat tours from which you will see Vietnamese life as it is with the people having little interest in your money but more interest in testing out their 'Hello'. Hung's boat tours include the Can Tho floating market, seedling nursery, rice plantation, monkey bridge, Can Tho street markets, rice paper/noodle workshop, rice husking mill, the local blacksmith and the local rice wine producer, all of this as you weave through the canals of small villiages. You can catch the PHUONG TRANG bus from Ho Chi Minh. It is a very nice bus that runs every 30 min to Can Tho and is be full of locals. Hung or one of his family members will pick you up from Can Tho bus station and from this point you will be well looked after at every step. If at any stage you are not sure ask to speak to Hung.
