The idea of BRIDGES came to life at the beginning of 2018; and after much planning construction started on 01. December 2018. The foundation took 15 days to complete, digging 10 meters in the ground and using 184 tons of concrete alone. 131 tons of concrete, 113,820 grey bricks and 16,500 red bricks were used for the entire building.
After 11 months of hard labor BRIDGES came to life in October 2019.
The steel staircase in the heart of the house comprises of 3,500 kg of steel, has 99 steps from the ground to the 10th floor, 70 meter of rail and was built by 6 iron mongers in 13 days when the site was still under construction.
13 days of relentless cutting, hammering and welding, a symphony of steel. During construction this was the only means to get up to the 9th floor, a good exercise. The staircase is raw steel and cleaned with linseed oil, no paint is used.
Now a glass elevator glides effortless up to the 9th floor, its glass windows giving the feel of ascending or descending on a platform in the air. It was delivered in two big containers, unloaded with a crane and built in 70 days on the site.
We used very little paint, mostly only for the fire and water pipes. Floors are left concrete.
