Planning the Ha Giang Loop in September?

Good choice.

September marks the transition from summer toward autumn in Northern Vietnam, bringing greener landscapes, rice terraces approaching harvestseason, and generally more comfortable conditions for exploring the mountains.

You may still experience occasional rain, especially earlier in the month, so a light raincoat is always worth packing.

The weather can also change quickly in the mountains — sunshine in one valley and mist around the next pass are completely normal.
