𝐕𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐧𝐚𝐦’𝐬 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐚𝐲, 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐢 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐝 🇻🇳
On 2 September 1945, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square, marking the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
For Vietnamese people, National Day is a time to remember the generations before us, appreciate the peace of everyday life and be with the people who matter.
Across Hanoi, red flags fill the streets, families gather around tables that always find room for one more dish, children proudly carry little flags, and the whole city feels livelier than usual.
If you are visiting around 2 September, expect central areas to be busier and allow a little extra time. Hanoi traffic rarely needs an excuse to become lively, but National Day certainly gives it one.
Behind the flags and celebrations is a quieter sense of gratitude. For us, this is one of those days when Hanoi feels especially like home.
