HOW TO GET TO UBUNTU HOSTEL FROM THE AIRPORT?????

We understand that it could be overwhelming to navigate your way around in a new city. It might seem even more confusing when it comes to the first challenge of making it to the hostel in the center right after landing in Hanoi. Here are some options you can take to get to Ubuntu Hostel from the airport:

- Public transportation: Bus number 86 runs from the airport to Hoan Kiem Lake. It costs 30,000VND (~$1,3). From Hoan Kiem Lake, it is 3 minute walking to Ubuntu Hostel.

- Conventional taxi: Once at the Noi Bai airport, you will see that there are several taxis at the airport. Most of them will run on meters and it should cost you around 350,000VND - 400,000VND ($15 - $17) to get to the hostel.

- Ride-hailing app: ‘Grab’ is the most popular app used in Vietnam. Download the app, insert your destination as ‘139 Hang Bac, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi’ and you are good to go!

- Taxi/ shuttle by the hostel: We can also help arrange a shuttle or taxi to pick our guests up from the airport if requested. Shoot us a message on Facebook if you need assistance with transportation service from/ to the hostel!

Đến Ubuntu từ sân bay bằng cách nào?

- Xe bus: Bus số 86 chạy từ sân bay về đến Bờ Hồ. Giá khoảng 30,000 đồng. Từ Bờ hồ, bạn đi bộ khoảng 5' là đến hostel ở Hàng Bạc.

- Shuttle sân bay: Theo mình được biết là có shuttle của sân bay về đến khu vực phố cổ. Mỗi lượt giá 40,000 đồng. Bạn ở sân bay hỏi thêm về option này nhé

- Grab/ Be: Đặt taxi từ Grab sẽ tốn khoảng 250,000 - 280,000 đồng.

- Taxi do hostel sắp xếp: Bọn mình cũng có dịch vụ đưa đón sân bay nếu bạn có nhu cầu với giá 250,000 đồng. Bạn chỉ cần báo trước cho mình qua page nhé.

We had some wonderful guests staying at Ubuntu Hostel for a few days. They came all the way from Malaysia to support their country at the Football game in My Dinh Stadium. It was a great football game and it was a pleasure giving a great hospitality to these fantastic fans. I hope they enjoy their time in Hanoi with us! 😊🇲🇾⚽🇻🇳👍

JUST A FRIENDLY REMINDER FROM US!!

Friends, on rainy days, it's better to stay inside. But if you have plans, so please bear in mind these things :

1. If you book transport via online platforms, please be patient. It'd be better if you book 15-30 minutes earlier compared to normal days. You know, it's very dangerous for the drivers to be in a rush, and yes, you don't want to be late for your flights or meetings!

2. Please bring an umbrella with you, or a raincoat. If you go by bike, please don't use the umbrellas!

3. While waiting for friends, make sure you don't stand close to big trees. There have been many trees falling down these days due to strong winds. Please stay alert!

And yes! Finally, STAY POSITIVE. Remember that raindrops are beneficial to all our plants! Sometimes we have to suffer a little bit for others' wellbeing! ❤

Found out a very intriguing place for our BOOK LOVERS! No more boring bookstores! No more noisy coffee shops with no privacy! HOOORAYYYY!! (Ay! This library is nestled in the French Quarter, so it is within walking distance from our hostel, Ubuntu!)

"Visitors must pay VND10,000 per hour to read and use the library space. If a reader wants to bring some books home, the fee is VND50,000 per week. All proceeds from the library go to SympaMeals, a private charity started by two lawyers that provides food to people battling cancer"

UBUNTU's SOCIAL HANGOUTS!

Every Saturday evening, we always have a social hangout on our hostel's terrace for everyone to gather. Usually we will play boardgames or just discuss things, whatever fun and whatever can bring people together. Our philosophy (and also, the hostel's name) is "Ubuntu", meaning "compassion", thus in every activity of us, we strive to bring people together and shape empathetic circles!

Every of our social hangouts is full of freedom and never getting formal! Also, you don't have to pay anything except for your OWN drinks (usually we serve beer at around 20.000 VND/bottle).

If you want to join us next week, please drop us a line via Messenger! Also, if you do have any recommendations for the next gatherings, or if you want to be a host, please let us know!

Vào tối thứ bảy hàng tuần chúng mình đều có một cuộc gặp gỡ trên tầng thượng để mọi người tụ tập với nhau. Khi thì nói chuyện, khi thì lại chơi board game,...Làm gì cũng được, miễn làm cùng nhau và miễn mọi người đều vui, như chữ "Ubuntu" tức là lòng nhân ái, và như niềm tin vào mà tụi mình luôn muốn xây dựng.

Các buổi tụ tập thường rất tự do và không quá trang trọng, để tất cả mọi người đều tham gia vào được. Bạn không phải trả bất cứ chi phí gì ngoài đồ uống (thường chúng mình sẽ có sẵn bia với giá chỉ 20.000 VNĐ cho mọi người).

Nếu bạn muốn tham gia vào tuần tới, xin hãy nhắn chúng tớ một tin qua inbox! Và nếu bạn có đề xuất gì về buổi social hangout (chia sẻ ý tưởng, hát hò cùng nhau,...) và muốn host một buổi, xin hãy nhắn cho chúng mình luôn nhé!
