Your private villa paradise one minute from the beach.
Thuan and his wife Gam are the creative brains behind The Chi Villa. Growing up in the fishing village of An Bang, only 10 minutes from Hoi An, Thuan strived for a better life. In An Bang the local residents are fisherman relying on the ocean for their living 12 months a year. The daily catch is essential for survival. Tourists watch the fisherman set sail in the basket boats with glee, with little knowledge how vital they are for survival. Seeing more and more tourists flock to An Bang as a beach escape away from Hoi An, Thuan saw an opportunity to help his community. With the help of a very good western friend they took the ambitious leap and opened one of the first houses for tourists to stay. In 2011 there were very few accommodation options in An Bang. Thuan and Gam credit their western friends for helping them understand the expectations for accommodation around the world. The first house was a huge success and with this confidence, was quickly followed, using government assistance by An Bang Seaside and then An Bang Hideaway. Thuan was motivated to create employment opportunities for local An Bang people aside from fishing, and provide outstanding accommodation options for tourists, both domestic and foreign. Each time they finished a project, they applied “the parts that were best’ into the next design. They have since moved on from earlier projects happy in the knowledge many local residents benefited from employment opportunities (many of whom have created their own businesses). The Chi Villa still offers the sleepy “tucked away in a little village alley” feel, though the contemporary design, furnishings and service offerings are of the highest standard Thuan and Gam have created so far.
