Sapa enters its green rice season

After the water pouring season in early May, when summer night rains begin filling the terraced fields, local farmers return to the mountainsides to plant rice. Tender young rice shoots gradually spread across the Muong Hoa Valley, reflecting the early summer sunlight in soft layers of vibrant green that have become so characteristic of Sapa.

Located at an altitude of over 1,500 meters, with harsh winters and farming conditions entirely dependent on natural rainfall, Sapa produces only one rice crop each year.
