🏝️ Nature-based solutions use coastal ecosystems and wetlands to protect us from flooding and coastal hazards like storm surges and tsunamis.
Coastlines are under threat from erosion and sea level rise, but there are solutions: nature-based solutions.
We can protect and restore coastal ecosystems by restoring natural buffers against these hazards. By stabilising beaches, these valuable environments can be maintained.
This can be done in three different coastal zones:
🌱 Upper beaches and dunes
🫧 Intertidal wetlands
🪸 Equatic ecosystems
