New addition to our garden space... An outdoor altar 🧘🏼‍♀️

The Buddha is pointed toward the East, direction of rebirth and new beginnings. We placed the altar where the first rays of sun reach the garden in winter. This makes it the perfect spot for a relaxing morning meditation in nature ✨

One of the most frequent visitors in our garden... The cheeky Vervet Monkey 🐒

They are the reason our food garden is covered with shadenetting - so they can't come in and steal all the food we grow 😅
They do get to eat some of our fruit that grows outside of the protected area, such as the cherry guava this monkey is snacking on 🍒
Though most locals aren't the biggest fan of them because of the havoc they cause, we think they are quite cute!
Coming from Belgium, Tine had never seen wild monkeys in her life. Watching them play and swing around in the trees is so entertaining! 🐵

The story of Eden 🐾

It was a full moon day, late August. Dylan and I went for a hike in the hills with our first pup Astra. We were looking to adopt a friend for Astra some time soon. During the walk I jokingly said to Dyl: "How amazing would it be if we'd meet our new dog on a walk? Like a stray looking for a home."
We arrived back home from the hike and hadn't come across any stray dogs (yet).
A little later that same day we walked to one of our neighbours, and ...
There she was.
Running around in the middle of our street. This foxy lady, who immediately ran up to us and got down on her back for belly rubs. She was so sweet and had such a gentle and wise energy about her. After some petting, she followed us home and kept waiting by our gate. We decided to take her in when it started raining. I was stunned; could this be an instant manifestation?

Apparently, she was a notorious local stray, who was left on a farm by herself, and was terrified of storms. Before a storm, she would always run to our village. She would break into people's gardens and houses, looking for someone who would take her in.
And... apparently her name used to be Sebastian 😅
When neighbours see her for the first time, they often say "Wait a minute... Is that Sebastian?" and then proceed to tell us funny stories of her time roaming the streets of Byrne.

We fell in love with this dog, and decided to adopt her. We renamed her Eden, and she instantly responded to her new name.
A new name, a new chapter. Eden found her piece of paradise 🏞️

We just said goodbye to our beautiful friend Stacey, her lovely mom Theresa and cutest baby Noam! ❤️

They stayed with us for a week, which flew by so quickly. We will cherish the memories of little Noam's vibrant energy and connection to our animals, sharing life stories over dinner, their gratitude and generosity, and so much more ...✨

We look forward to hosting them again 😍
