Perseid Meteor Shower. “The best and most frequent show in decades”

From July 17 to August 23.
(Avoid nights and times with full moon directly overhead.)

We have done this “event” in the past, all the City (less safety lights) and neighborhood lights were turned off for a spectacular viewing experience.

We have the telescopes and a few binoculars, bring your lawn chairs and blankets and come set in the front and East lawn. Mosquito spray will be added to make enjoyable. We will have grills and a small bonfire (weather permitting).

If enough people are interested, my friends at the Tulsa and Broken Arrow astronomy clubs (some real NASA astronomers) would bring some real high tech equipment. Like the largest portable telescope in the USA!
We did this in 2023 and that old flyer is attached as we make a new one.

Details on how to watch:
The meteor shower will happen from July 17- August 23
The peak will coincide with a full moon.
The meteors are best seen before dawn.

Ideal plan for the Fite Mansion:
Similar to the EW Marland Mansion in Ponca City while realizing that the Fite Mansion is smaller in size.

Blended with the heritage and cultural elements of:

The Cherokee National History Museum
So much cultural display and educational activities year round.

I realize that the Fite Mansion and Estate sits upon Creek Nation land. However, the Fite Family was friendly with all of the Thirteen Tribes, Dr. FB Fite was to be Territorial Governor of the State of Sequoyah, to be run equally by the Thirteen Tribes. The Fite Mandion was, at one time, to be the Territorial Governor’s Mansion.
Dr. Fite was also the Mayor of Muskogee, twice!
