💥 WHAT. A. FISH! 💥
Ian Pickering landed an absolute banger of a Brown Trout during last week's Kayak Grand Slam on beautiful Esthwaite Water in the heart of the English Lake District.
Measuring an impressive 63cm, this stunning specimen was the biggest trout caught during the event and is a perfect example of the quality of stocked fish that Esthwaite continues to produce.
Fish like this are what keep anglers coming back year after year – powerful, beautifully marked and living in one of the most picturesque settings in the country. 🎣🔥

Spring is in full bloom here at The Armitt as we welcome in May with a new series of events🍄🌻

For our fans, we have plenty on this month from a fungi-themed drawing workshop with artist Meg Bowyer to an in-house talk with 'An A-Z of Beatrix Potter's' co-curator Dr Penny Bradshaw, on Beatrix's fascination with fungi across her life.

This month also sees the launch of our as we welcome Katy Canales from National Trust Beatrix Potter's Hill Top & Hawkshead for an online talk, the first of this new series for 2026.

We wrap up the month with our monthly , taking us back through the history of the Cumbrian fireplace.
