You're driving along the coast and suddenly... there it is. A tiny islet, just sitting there in the Gulf of Corinth. And of course, there's a little church on top.

Of course there is. Because this is Greece.

I don't know who decided that every islet needed a church, but thank you. You ruined us for every other country.

While we visited Poros Island, we didn't just stop in the main town.

We did sit on the promenade and had a frappé on a terrace, of course. How else?

But we took our time to walk the narrow streets, all the way up to the clock tower, then decided to drive all over the island. It's not big, but it has plenty of roads and beaches to explore.

Had a wonderful lunch at Kanali Beach Bar - Restaurant, and on the way back, we stumbled into this view of the Daskalio islet.

Of course, there had to be a small chapel on it. Just in case you weren't already in love with this country, the Greeks decided to make it absolutely irresistible.

Not the one in Athens.

This Monastiraki is a quiet fishing village on the Gulf of Corinth, fifteen minutes east of Nafpaktos. Has a small lagoon, fishing boats, tavernas where the catch comes straight from the water.

I've loved this place since the first time I saw it. And I'll be able to go there whenever I want. The dream is to go by bicycle, sit at the harbour taverna, have a frappe, watch the boats, head back. Ten minutes from home.

I am thinking to have the bicycles available for those visiting us as well.
What do you think?

We visited Poros Island this Easter.

It is 5 minutes from Galatas with the ferry.
Poros is one of the closest islands to the Peloponnese coast.

I cannot describe the feeling, but what I do know, is that we will go back definetly.

Did you know Nafplio was the first capital of modern Greece?

Yes. We have been here too.

Every corner of this town has something to feast your eyes on: neoclassical buildings, Venetian architecture, wonderful souvenir shops.

And than there is the Bourtzi castle sitting in the middle of the bay. It was built by the Venetians in the 15th century.

And if your legs can carry you, you should climb up to the Palamidi fortress above the town. 999 steps. But before you do, check and make sure it is open 🤣

Crickets and cicadas, the first light over the Gulf of Patras, and a beach that is not famous.

We found Makyneia in 2024, when we were just looking on Booking for a place to stay after leaving Parga.

Browsing through the photos and videos, I realised that our hosts from there told us about Nafpaktos and after the sunrise in this video, we drove to Nafpaktos in search for coffee.

And that was it. The turning point. The moment we found our "home".

Funny how life works, and how people we meet along the way contribute to our path without ever realising it.

Home. Chilliadou. Nafpaktos.

I still need to process all of the changes. If you would have asked me 5 years ago, where do I see myself, I doubt I would have even imagined how life would turn out.

This was the first time I cried because I did not want to return to Romania.

Sunrise in the Gulf of Corinth!

Just 5 minutes from what we will call home from now on.

Before the Orama Oikos dream existed, or even before I realised how deeply in love with Greece I was, I saw it through my photographer eyes.

I didn't know this place existed the first time I drove through it.

It was such a surprise. Water on both sides of the road, fishing huts on stilts.

David was 2.5 years old the first time. That was back in 2015, and I've returned four or five times since.

Messolonghi Lagoon National Park.

I think my list of favourite places in Greece, is becoming quite long. 😁
