Where was summer? Anyway here is hoping that 2024 will be better and our renovations finished which has held up reopening.

Sadly due to circumstances beyond our control we are now looking at re-opening in 2022. The clue is in the name but an opportunity to redecorate eventually.

B&B update .... We are keeping a watching brief on the covid situation but are remaining closed until all here are fully vaccinated which will still be several weeks.

Look out for the toilet training on the 2nd feed top left bum in air and taken away cleanly. Wouldn't it be great if human babies neatly parcelled up their p**p....

With the dull weather recently it has been hard to capture images of the 'teenagers' in the barn. Night before last 3 were on the back beam and 2 in the box with only 1 still too young to come out. They only congregated on the box when food was incoming and by then too dark. We did see a adult bird hunting and actually landing on our thatched roof! Last night dull again and only 1 owl on beam so thought rest were in trees. Bit later when too dark again for photos 4 came out the box like clowns out of a mini! 4 then set too with flying lessons and perching on posts and getting up to no good....they just KNOW we cant take pictures. How 4 owls fit in the box now no idea certainly no social distancing!

The owls have landed, we think 5 owlets some more advanced than others judging by the fluffy head. The last image is dinner being delivered caught in the barn by the adult.

We are now losing count of the number of long tailed t**s descending on our bird feeder, over 13 once, referred to as a volary, the young although capable of feeding themselves still beg for food from the adults when they appear. Same behaviour from the Blue Tits...that didnt nest in our box grrrr. Moles are still loving our 'lawn' and the rabbits find the hills great p**ping places when they aren't also digging at the 'lawn'.
A young fox visited the patio this evening and then did a tour of the garden perimeter checking how well Jeff had just cut the lawn. Luckily the baby rabbits were in hiding. The crows who have been nesting in the thatch werent impressed and were very noisy.
The barn owls are hunting in daylight to feed their owlets who keep looking out the owl box in a bid for freedom and are getting very noisy. It wont be long before they venture out. One adult has discovered a garden chair makes a good perch to check the bird table area at night.
