I have just had a very precious experience . Last week we found a Hammerkop baby in the garden. Fallen or pushed out of the nest. Impossible to put it back. Then after picking peoples brains around me I have managed to keep it alive and now sent it on to African Dawn animal sanctuary. The advice has been invaluable.

Last night I had the pleasure of having a group of cyclists from Brazil www.cape2comrades.com .They are cycling from Cape Town to Pietermaritzburg then running the comrades.

By the way the Hammerkop with the broken leg survived. It healed incredibly quickly and NY the time it had to start catching its own food it was walking pretty well on it.

Hi all. The Hammerkop babies turned out to be 6 not 5 and have caused quite a stir. It would appear that it is the biggest recorded brood in S.A. An Ornithologist who I have been in contact with passed the information to the Roberts Bird Book researcher's. So those of you that enjoyed them while having breakfast or dinner on the veranda were witness to special treat. Any of you with pictures I would really appreciation if you would post them on my face book page. If anyone in Aberdeen has any information about Hammerkop in Aberdeen they are trying to determine how many pairs we have in town. Please pass any information on to me. Can't wait to hear what comes in. Cheers lyn

I have 5 Hammerkop babies in the garden. The biggest brood ever.
Most mornings about 5am the parents are feeding them so 7 Hammerkop on the lawn. What an experience and privilege.

Colin and Andrew 2 of the contestants in the Trans Afrika bike race. be it bridge to Cape Town. Stephan broke the record by 2 days. Kenny stayed here as well.

Hi all with the wonder full rains we have had it is promising to be a good spring.
The ancient Plum tree is in blossom with the rest very near. My Dads clivia are also blooming. The old gentleman is an old gardened that has been with me for years, what a character.
