Two metres from the 4x4, the lions were crossing the track.

Molo Lolo Restaurant has just reopened.

On the terrace, under the vines and string lights, tables fill up every evening. Inside, African masks, raffia pendants and wax wallpaper line the brick walls.

In the kitchen, French chefs come in residence to teach students from the NukaKamma programme. On the plate: African ingredients, French technique.

The morning starts early in the kitchen. Croissants, pains au chocolat, brioches — all fresh from the oven, baked by Siya, our pastry chef, trained entirely here at Addo African Home.

At the table, Promise welcomes you. A service trainee in the NukaKamma program, she’s learning the trade hands-on, with the smile she’s already known for.

Thando will pour your welcome drink on arrival. A draught beer or a South African wine after the safari. A digestif once dinner is done.
