Jeffreysbaai aangewys as een van SA se beste klein dorpies om in te woon

Jeffreysbaai in die Oos-Kaap is amptelik aangewys as een van Suid-Afrika se beste klein dorpies om in te woon ná erkenning in ’n nasionale opname deur die Daily Maverick.

Die wêreldbekende kusdorp, wat in 1849 gestig is, het hoë tellings behaal vir gemeenskapsgees, netheid, veiligheid, natuurlike skoonheid en algemene lewenskwaliteit.

Jeffreysbaai is veral bekend vir die ikoniese Supertubes-branderplankry plek, wat branderplank ryers van regoor die wêreld lok en die dorp internasionaal op die kaart geplaas het.

Eiendomskenners sê die dorp trek al hoe meer semigrante, afgetredenes en gesinne wat die stres van stadslewe wil ontsnap en ’n rustiger leefstyl langs die kus verkies.

Met sy pragtige strande, sonnige klimaat, groeiende infrastruktuur en ontspanne atmosfeer, glo baie mense Jeffreysbaai raak vinnig een van die gewildste plekke in Suid-Afrika om huis te noem.

Jeffreys Bay Named One of South Africa’s Best Small Towns to Live In

The Eastern Cape coastal town of Jeffreys Bay has officially been recognised as one of South Africa’s best small towns to live in following recognition in a national Daily Maverick survey.

Founded in 1849, the town earned high scores for community spirit, cleanliness, safety, natural beauty and overall quality of life.

Jeffreys Bay is internationally famous for its iconic Supertubes surf break, which attracts surfers from around the world every year and has helped establish the town as a global surfing destination.

Property experts say the town continues to attract growing numbers of semigrants, retirees and families looking to escape busy city life in favour of a more relaxed coastal lifestyle.

With beautiful beaches, year-round sunshine, improving infrastructure and a laid-back atmosphere, many believe Jeffreys Bay is rapidly becoming one of South Africa’s most desirable places to live.

HOE OM 'N HAAIAANVAL TE VOORKOM:

1. Moenie in die see swem nie. Meer as 99% van alle haaiaanvalle gebeur in groot watermassas, ook bekend as oseane. Die manier om vas te stel of jy in 'n oseaan is, is om die water te proe. Dit behoort sout te smaak.

2. Swem saam met vet mense. Sorg altyd dat daar groot, vet mense saam jou in die water is. Die kanse dat jy vinniger as hulle kan swem en wegkom is baie goed.

3. Dokter die sonblok. Om jou kanse op 'n aanval verder te verklein, vervang die ander se sonbrandmiddel van ander mense met iets wat na gebraaide biefstuk of bloed ruik.

4. Moenie in die water gaan sonder 'n mes nie. Dis sodat jy die swemmer naaste aan jou kan steek as jy 'n haai gewaar. Sodra hy lekker bloei, swem so vinnig weg as wat jy kan.

5. Luister noukeurig! Elke Haai het 'n Theme Song - As jy dié volgende hoor, swem vir jou lewe: da-dam. da-dam. da-dam As dit so klink: dadam, dadam, dadam - dan is jy klaar in jou moer.

6. Moenie paniekerig raak nie. Bly kalm as 'n haai jou byt. Jy is in elk geval in jou kanon in. Dis nie nodig om die kinders op die strand bang te skree nie!

Wondering what to do on the Marina today? Wonder no more – below is a list to choose from:

1. Boat, float, swim, row in the canals – our water is clean and fresh.
2. Go fishing – if you fish in the canals, please observe our catch and release policy.
3. Feed the fish – fish feeding pellets are for sale at the office.
4. Visit the Arthur Fennell Park – bird life abound.
5. Play Boulé on the court at Marina Wharf – balls are available from the restaurant.
6. Relax on our beach at Marina Wharf – it is safe for kiddies to swim – take a picnic basket along.
7. Practice your short game on the putting and chipping course in Phase 2 – over the bridge past La Caribe.
8. Use the outdoor gym in Phase 1 – opposite Montego Bay.
9. Eat out at any of our three restaurants - Marina Wharf, Walskipper, Tapas.
10. Enjoy a day with the kids at Wacky Water Park – fun for all ages and braai facilities are available.
11. Go walking, jogging or cycling – we have over 10 km of safe roads within the Marina.
12. Take the kids to any of the six playparks around the Marina – take a picnic basket along.
13. Exchange a book at any of the two Honesty Libraries – one near the outdoor gym and the other at Gate 2 North.
14. Read the Story of Marina Martinique – available for sale at the office.
15. A map of the Marina is available at the gates or office.

Please take note that the “Supertubes” park that is referred to is at Supertubes Surfing spot. The waterslide on main beach “Dolphin Beach Entertainment” which is also referred to a supertube is STILL OPEN. They are a private park with controlled access with existing covid protocols in place.
