Located on the beautiful 19,250ha Babanango Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal’s culturally rich Zulu heartland, Matatane Wilderness Camp offers guests the chance to enjoy a rustic but comfortable “back to basics” value-for-money bush experience that connects them with the essence of the African wilderness. With 130ha of beautiful, malaria-free wilderness safely fenced off from the rest of the reserve

to allow guests to indulge in walking, mountain biking and a range of other activities without the risk of encountering dangerous game, Matatane Camp enjoys breathtaking views of the Umfolozi River and is home to a number of wildlife species, from zebra, giraffe and impala to genet, porcupine and bush pigs. Whether it’s coming together under a canopy of stars around the camp fire in the boma to indulge in a traditional South African braai or hiking through our wonderful, pristine wilderness, discovering the wealth of wild fauna and flora on the way, Matatane Camp offers a completely authentic bush experience.
