Remembering Steve Smit — “Monkey Man”
Today we remember Steve Smit, affectionately known as “Monkey Man”, who dedicated his life to protecting and giving a voice to our beautiful vervet monkeys.
His passing leaves an enormous hole in conservation, but his compassion and tireless work will continue through every animal whose life he touched.

Living and working on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast, we are privileged to share this beautiful place with its wildlife. Nature isn't simply the backdrop to what we do — it is part of what makes this place home.
So today we honour a man who spent his life protecting it.
