The sun was high over the Klein Karoo, and the land that would one day become Absolutely Wild looked very different from what guests see today.
There were no waterslides. No heated pools. No cottages filled with laughter. No restaurant serving famous pizzas.
Just a dream, a family, and a piece of rugged Karoo earth.
At exactly 14:01 on 11 May 2022, three people stood together on the farm. A man, a woman and a little girl . Armed with nothing more than determination, a few tools, and a vision bigger than the landscape around them, they marked out the very first steps of what would become Absolutely Wild.
The ground was hard and unforgiving. The wind carried the silence of the Karoo across the valley. To most people it may have looked like an empty piece of land.
But they saw something different.
They saw families making memories. They saw children racing down waterslides. They saw campfires under star-filled skies. They saw a place where strangers would arrive as guests and leave as friends.
Every measurement taken that day mattered. Every line drawn in the dust mattered. Every shovel that touched the earth was the beginning of a story still being written.
The little girl helping beside them did not know it then, but she was becoming part of the foundation of a dream. Years later, when guests splash in the pools, enjoy game drives, relax in hot tubs, and watch their children play, they will never see the countless hours, sacrifices, risks, and faith that started here.
Yet this photograph captures it all.
A family standing in the Karoo. A vision taking shape. A future being built.
Today, Absolutely Wild is more than a destination. It is proof that extraordinary things can grow from ordinary beginnings when people refuse to give up on a dream.
And it all started right here.
