We concur - if you're anywhere in the NW of the UK then this could be a best most fabulous fun memorable Tuesday outing ever!!
To our friends in Wales, and indeed anyone who fancies a trip to Cardiff, Douglas Rattray is heading your way.
On Tuesday 3rd November, Doug will be speaking at the Cardiff and County Club for a special History Society Lunch, sharing The Battle of Isandlwana: The Day of the Dead Moon.
Doug will bring the events of 22 January 1879 to life through the people who experienced them, telling the story from both the British and Zulu perspectives and continuing the storytelling tradition established by his father, David Rattray.
The talk begins promptly at 12.30pm, followed by lunch, and they are making rather a fine afternoon of it.
Guests will be welcomed with a drink before sitting down to smoked mackerel with new potato, quail egg, croutons and lemon dressing, followed by fillet of beef with wild mushroom and onion tart and Madeira sauce. To finish, there will be apple and blackberry crumble with traditional custard, followed by coffee and mints. A fish main course is also available when ordered in advance. Anyone else feeling hungry?!
The cost is £50 per person, including the talk and lunch.
