In 1996, due to determination and sacrifices, a personal dream became a reality,
up on the mountain slopes of Betty's Bay.
Together with talented architect Greg Goddard , Sammy Pretorius builders, a masterpiece was born.
This soon become a landmark in our town, a new beacon for tourism and with it job creation, within associated businesses in the Hangklip region.
I sold it as a running concern some 9 years ago, but as with any child, total separation was never an option, and I continued to be actively involved in some form, either with marketing or assisting whenever required to relieve the manager Beatie Bronkhorst ,who has now reached retirement age.
Its now time for the Lady, to take a well deserved break from a very demanding profession and business, after 21 years of saying " Welcome ".
As of the 1st of May 2022, Buçaco Sud will no longer be operating as a bed & breakfast / guest house, but instead will only be available as a self catering option for large families or groups.

Reservations with conditions for minimum stays, etc can still be done directly with the establishment or via AirBnB.
I am extremely grateful for all the free publicity received , the many articles published by various local and International magazines and newspapers, to the thousands of guests from around the Planet , many of whoom became like family, some also subsequently acquired property in our town.
On behalf of the current owners ,and including manager ( the owner's Mother as mentioned above ) I would like to thank the many locals who either recommended ,or always had their family overflows staying with us over the last 25 years.
* Ironically, my Dad who was often spotted on top of the roof at crazy heights, by alarmed passers-by, during the 8 month construction phase, passed away a few months ago.
Nothing scared him, and I am eternally grateful for the belief in his son,his hard work and master building skills, its
the end of an Era so to speak.
Ask not what your town or country can do for you, but rather what you can do to enrich and improve your town and country.
