The whales have arrived! I have just received confirmation that the first whale sightings have been confirmed off Blythedale Beach.

Sitting on the deck of The Ritz and have counted more than 20 whales in the last 10 minutes - almost any direction you look in has blows, breaching whales etc - unbelievable!! Hard to capture on a cell phone!

We are right on the beach with the best sea views and direct access onto a dog-friendly beach (bring your dogs too!) with kilometres of open uncrowded beach to explore! There are still plenty of whales about - so you can whale watch from the deck, the swimming pool or the braai area! And we are only 70km's north of Durban!

Picked up some lovely shells this morning from right in front of The Ritz - plenty of cowries!

Went cray-fishing this morning- caught these 4 within 10 minutes of entering the water in waist-deep water!! Amazing! Guess what’s for dinner?!

We saw the palm nut vulture again this morning - and I got some video of it.

The palm nut vulture just made a grand appearance - flew in from the north - went out to sea, turned - came back to our garden and then flew north again. I had time to grab my phone and get the second half of the fly-past,

Blythedale weather at its best! The view from the deck this morning- quite a few fishing ski’s and boats just behind the breakers - I presume going for Natal Snoek? And a whale with calf out deep (too far to capture on iPhone!)
