African Parks, in association with the College, is looking to expand our field ranger complement. We are looking for young enthusiastic individuals who want to gain the necessary knowledge and skills to help conserve and protect Africaβs natural resources and biodiversity. This includes law enforcement training in mitigation of wildlife crime.
Candidates who successfully pass pre-selection and selection will undergo elite counter-poaching training and, depending on successful completion of the training course, will stand the chance of permanent employment with African Parks.
Preconditions: (This will be completed once the pre-selection course is passed and the candidates have been selected)
*Polygraph test
*SAPS criminal clearance
*Medical examination
Age: 21 years minimum and 30 years maximum
Health: All applicants must have no pre-existing health issues/conditions and they must be physically fit
Minimum Fitness Requirements:
*4 Km run in 30 minutes or less
*40 Push-ups in under 2 minutes
*50 Sit-ups in under 2 minutes
*5 Pull-ups in under 2 minutes
*Firemanβs Carry β 100m
*Shuffle Kicks β 2 minutes
*15 Km Walk β 1 hour 30 minutes
Qualifications: No specific qualifications are required, however PSIRA Grade C as well as SAPS self-loading rifle and handgun competency will be advantageous as will the required attitude to take up a position of this nature
Basic Literacy: English β read, write and speak
Indemnity: Indemnity (exemption from liability for damage) must be signed before the candidates can partake in the pre-selection
First Pre-Selection
Venue: Southern African Wildlife College β Hoedspruit
Time: 06:00 (SAWC Main Gate to be transported to Ranger Camp)
Date: 13 March 2024 β SAWC Selection Process
Duration: One day (Please come wearing a hat, tracksuit and takkies ready for a fitness test)
Requirements: CV with the following: Matric Certificate, Copy of ID, a Medical Certificate, and if available PSIRA Qualifications and Fi****ms Competency certification
No food or refreshments will be supplied. Please bring your own.
Second Pre-Selection
Venue: Southern African Wildlife College β Hoedspruit
Time: 14h00 (SAWC Main Gate to be transported to Ranger Camp)
Date: 24 March β 29 March 2024 (SAWC and African Parks Selection Process)
Duration: One day (Accommodation and dinner will be provided on 24 March 2024)
Requirements:
South African-issued ID book/card.
