The Southern Right Whales have officially arrived in Walker Bay, Hermanus — and whale season has begun!

There’s nothing quite like that first sighting of these gentle ocean giants returning to our coastline each winter. From spectacular breaches to moms and calves cruising close to shore, the magic of Hermanus whale season is here once again.

Grab your camera, take a walk along the famous cliff paths, and keep your eyes on the ocean… the whales are back in town! 🐳💙

Not much water in the Bath River at the moment due to the ongoing hot and dry conditions, but we were fortunate to receive a visit from an entire flock of African Sacred Ibis (there were even more of them around the bend in the river that I wasn't able to photograph). We normally only see a couple at a time.😍

Piglet is such a messy and noisy eater when he gets yoghurt as a treat, but we don't care because he really enjoys it and he sits politely like a good boy!🐽🐷🍶🥄🤤😂
