In this month’s Hantam Herinnering…

We take a closer look at an old saddler’s stitching bench, currently standing in Die Knegtekamer at the Hantam Huis. Tools like this were used to hold leather securely while saddles, bridles and harnesses were stitched by hand—an important trade in farming communities such as the Hantam.

Ons kyk van nader na ’n ou saalmakers-stikbank wat tans in Die Knegtekamer by die Hantam Huis staan. Sulke gereedskap is gebruik om leer stewig vas te hou terwyl perdesale, tooms en harnasse met die hand gestik is—’n belangrike ambag in ’n landbougemeenskap soos die Hantam.
