🎉 Hantam Huis is 40!

For 40 years, Hantam Huis has been more than just a well-known building in Calvinia – it has been a place where memories are made and stories are shared.

Few people know that this beautiful building, which today welcomes visitors from near and far, was once on the verge of being demolished to make way for a parking lot.
But Dr. Erwin and Mrs. Alta Coetzee saw something others did not. Where many saw a neglected building, they saw potential. They began buying, restoring and preserving some of Calvinia's oldest buildings – not only to save them, but to protect the town's unique character and history.

The main Hantam Huis building dates back to 1853, carrying with it more than 170 years of history. Through years of care and restoration, it has been transformed into the warm and welcoming place we know today.

But if we're honest... Hantam Huis is so much more than a building.
Without its people, it would simply be bricks and mortar. You are the heartbeat of Hantam Huis.
To every guest who has stayed with us over the past 40 years, enjoyed a cup of coffee, shared a meal, celebrated a special occasion, or simply stopped by to say hello – thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.

🎉 Die Hantam Huis is 40!

Vir 40 jaar is Die Hantam Huis meer as net 'n bekende gebou in Calvinia – dit is 'n plek waar herinneringe gemaak en stories gedeel word.

Min mense weet dat hierdie pragtige gebou, wat vandag soveel besoekers verwelkom, amper gesloop is om plek te maak vir 'n parkeerterrein.
Maar Dr. Erwin en Mev. Alta Coetzee het iets raakgesien wat ander misgekyk het. Waar ander ‘n vervalle gebou gesien het, het hulle potensiaal gesien. Hulle het begin om van Calvinia se oudste geboue te koop, te herstel en te bewaar – nie net om die geboue te red nie, maar om die dorp se karakter en geskiedenis te beskerm.

Die hoofgebou van Die Hantam Huis dateer uit 1853, en dra meer as 170 jaar se geskiedenis saam. Deur jare se sorg en restourasie is dit omskep in die warm, verwelkomende plek wat ons vandag ken.

Maar as ons eerlik is... Die Hantam Huis is soveel meer as net 'n gebou.
Sonder die mense is dit net bakstene en mure. Julle is die hartklop van Die Hantam Huis.
Aan elke gas wat oor die afgelope 40 jaar hier oorgeslaap het, 'n koppie koffie kom drink het, 'n ete kom geniet het of sommer net ingeloer het om hallo te sê – baie, baie dankie.

Dankie dat julle deel is van ons storie.
