Yesterday I found out that a Mr Fah**n is advertising Camelot on Bridekirk on Gumtree and is pretending to be the owner of the property. A group of young men arrived thinking they had a booking. It was a very distressing situation for me and the young men who were defrauded of several thousand rand as they had paid the accommodation cost into a Capitec bank the previous day

Mr Fah**n also told the young men that he was out of the country and they had to deal with his daughter on cell number 0810***835. When we called the number it just rang.
I contacted Capitec on behalf of the defrauded young man and was advised that he has to open a case of fraud to try and get his money back (no guarantees) and it would take the fraud division several weeks to investigate the matter. I was told that the fraudster/s had already transferred the money out of the account to another bank account.
Camelot only takes bookings through the accommodation sites such as Bookings dot com, Airbnb, TravelGround, Lekkeslaap, Afristay, SafariNow and will never take direct bookings through Facebook, Web pages or Gumtree. Payments are processed through these sites only and by no other means.
