The infamous Cape Doctor makes a house-call, but you don't have to put up with all its bluster.
The South-Easterly wind is expected to make a few appearances during the months of October to March.
The Cape Doctor's trademark is the iconic 'tablecloth' that drapes itself over Table Mountain when the wind is blowing.
The South-Easter is named the Cape Doctor because the early settlers felt that the wind cleaned the city air and blew all the illness and bad humors out to sea.

If you want to stay out of the way when the Doctor is in town you can try these activities.
*V&A Waterfront for fantastic shops and delicious seafood.
*Visit the Two Oceans Aquarium showcasing the diversity of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans.
*Take a drive to the bohemian fishing town of Kalkbay. The town is in the lee of the mountain so is mostly sheltered.
*Explore the city culture. Museums, art galleries and the L***a Theatre all offer an abundance of wind-free interest and distractions.
*City Beaches. Table Mountain offers protection to the strip of beaches on the Atlantic seaboard close to the city.
*Kirstenbosch Gardens. Also in the lee of the wind, the gardens offer scenic views and picnics on manicured lawns.
*Windy sports fans. The Doctor's visit is a welcome treat for kitesurfers, windsurfers and wingfoiling.

Blue seas, sandy toes and a golden tan - a beach holiday dream come true.
Just around the corner from our holiday accommodation is Camps Bay Beach. This popular beach was awarded blue flag status and is a scenic spot for tanning, picnics and enjoying a lazy summer day in Cape Town. The sunset is worth waiting for and the last rays of the setting sun may find you enjoying a cocktail in one of the cafes along the palm-fringed boulevard.
