We’ve partnered with Cape Sidecar Adventures to offer our guests an experience that has become a firm favourite on our itineraries. It’s sightseeing with a little extra personality, taking in Cape Town’s incredible scenery from the seat of a vintage-style sidecar.

And, of course, you have to look the part! Guests are kitted out in retro leather jackets, goggles and helmets, complete with a complimentary bandana.
A little adventure, plenty of fun and some seriously cool photo opportunities along the way.

South Africa, the rainbow nation. If you’re visiting South Africa in September, you may hear us talking about Heritage Day. But what exactly are we celebrating? 🇿🇦

24 September, Heritage Day is a celebration of the many cultures, traditions, languages and histories that together make South Africa the country it is today. And with such a wonderfully diverse population, there is no single way to celebrate.

For some, it means wearing traditional clothing and sharing food passed down through generations. For others, it’s music, dancing, storytelling or spending time with family and community. You might find a potjie slowly cooking over the fire, meat sizzling on a braai, traditional dishes being prepared at home, or celebrations filled with the sounds and customs of different cultures.

Across the country, Zulu, Xhosa, Sotho, Tswana, Venda, Ndebele, Afrikaans, Cape Malay and many other communities each bring their own traditions, flavours and stories to the day.

Heritage Day isn't about everyone celebrating in the same way. It’s about recognising where we come from, learning about one another and celebrating the extraordinary diversity we share as South Africans.

For travellers, it’s also a beautiful reminder that experiencing South Africa goes far beyond its landscapes and wildlife. Our people, food, languages, music and traditions are an equally important part of the journey.

Our journey through the Morukuru Family Madikwe continues — and we’re staying on the spectacular coastline of De Hoop Nature Reserve.

While Morukuru Ocean House offers the privacy of an exclusive-use home, Morukuru Beach Lodge provides a different way to experience this remarkable destination.
