When you next come camp at Appleton Scout Camp, and you wonder how there's suddenly so much space to camp, thank the Squires from the 1st George Rover Crew! Not only did they travel all the way from George, thanks to their Assistant SGL Kaa/Graham, but they really put blood, sweat and tears into making Appleton better these past few days. We now proudly have two new levelled campsite spots at the back of the campsite (with an amazing view of Table Mountain and Lion's Head), and many freshly pruned trees and bushes. Thank you so much to the .george.scouts Rover Crew for your hard work. Roderick, Garrick, Josh, Morgan and Graham, we hope to see you again soon🤩

It's been a busy time at Appleton Scout Camp the past few months, with many Troops and Packs experiencing life at our very own mountain getaway. From patrol camps to service projects and general maintenance, adult training to Pack camps, Appleton has seen it all in this last part of summer and start of autumn.

As winter comes with us, can you think of anything better than enjoying a warm braai with your patrol on a starry night, with the city lights below you? Whether you choose to camp out or use the bunkhouse (which has electricity, a gas stove and mattresses all ready to use), you really have no excuse not to fit in a camp, hike, or expedition in the next few months! Bookings can be made via Regional HQ (link is in our bio)⚜️

We are now accepting applications for the Warden Team of 2025 for the Appleton Campsite on Signal Hill in Cape Town. The position will be for the 2025 calendar year (1st January till 31st December) and will be available to three successful applicants.

The primary responsibilities of the Warden Team are the upkeep and continued improvement of the Appleton Campsite through maintenance and engagement with the various visitors and local stakeholders, all of which will be under the direction of a Head Warden. The position includes accommodation as well as basic amenities in return for a monthly contribution towards running expenses.

Interested applicants can find the role overview online and can submit their following via an online form. Applications close on 4th November 2024.
