To describe Harpers House using conventional terms is difficult because it’s pretty unconventional, which is a good thing. Harpers House is an upmarket boutique guesthouse that embraces the idea of shared and communal spaces, while marrying old world aesthetic, with modern d

esign. Nestled in the heart of Cape Town’s trendy Green Point area, it offers accommodation to the discerning, open-minded traveller. One, who prefers to avoid the formulaic, and downright boring, offerings of hotels. The kind of traveller, who appreciates design and intriguing spaces, but is also in search of something different. Harper’s House has 8 rooms in total that were designed and curated by South African designer, Danie Louw. Each has its own personality, and consists of everything you might need during your stay. You also have the option to book the house as a whole. In keeping with our unconventional nature, bathrooms are shared. Both floors have two lavishly appointed lavatories, with separate bathtubs and showers. The use of shared spaces allows our guests to interact and create a unique experience, while always having the option to retreat to the privacy of their rooms. If it’s an intimate, exciting, and inspiring space filled with like-minded travellers that you’re after, then you’re at the right place.

Our Story

Dating back to 1892 Harpers House is an 8-bedroom luxury guest house with a storied history. Nestled in the idyllic neighbourhood of Green Point it is a blue beacon of romance and understated elegance.

More than a guesthouse the recently renovated eight-bedroom property is an ode to the melting pot of culture that makes up the history of Cape Town.

Harpers House’s spacious rooms feature contemporary African decor and original wood flooring. Each room is kitted with distinctive hand-picked treasures that give it a unique touch. Compact refreshment stations feature the modern necessities we can’t live without like a Nespresso coffee machine and tea facilities. The basics are covered in true Harper’s fashion with Bespoke Scent luxury bathroom amenities, Smart TV’s and luxe gowns.

Executive Chef Guy Bennett who also helms the kitchen at sister hotel, Gorgeous George, has crafted a menu of breakfast classics done with a modern twist. A dedication to sustainability has seen him recently win a SASSI Trailblazer award which is evident in the seasonal breakfast dishes.
